Amazing Finger Art & Painting

It was more than a decade ago - when the Internet was not as ubiquitous as it is today - and the only way to share some interesting, useful (and also, not all meaningful) stuff - was via email.

It was during one of such exchanges, that I was first introduced to some amazing finger art/paintings. I'm not sure if i'll be able to locate those old emails - but recently, I found some more of these amazing pieces of art work.

Amazing Icebergs

Amazing striped icebergs:

Icebergs with colored stripes. God's wonderful creation AGAIN !

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions.

Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form.

When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe.

Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

Awesome Art - You'll wonder if these are paintings!

If you're somewhat like me, it's a known thing, that there a zillion amazing pictures - photos - out there, when you start looking at sites like Flickr.

The amazing stuff of graphics artists - the Photoshop specialists - is also known.

So, how about something in the non-digital world for a change. Some of us may find it hard to digest, but yeah, art and painting is still done using the same tools as yore.

However, if you want to see some really amazing stuff, check this out! This post shows some absolutely amazing and mid blowing paintings - yes, they're not photos!!

The article has a series of opinions and conflicting views - but as someone on the post already noted, enjoy it and appreciate effort, even if it's going to be hard to fathom that this may not be not fall into a purist's classification of painting, and all that...

I may not understand art - but I sure think these are works of art! Kudos to all the artists.

Hot air balloon festival, Bristol

Hot air balloons are fun to watch. They sure are on my list of things to do, and of course, photograph.

The festival - Europe's largest balloon festivals - ended on 7th August.

Gigapan - Amazing Gigapixel Pictures

With the evolution of digital technology, it's normal to expect pictures that are in mega-pixels of resolution. In fact, today's handheld devices have megapixel (MP) cameras, and probably even the low-end devices come with upwards of 1MP.

Technology, though is taking another stride - and we have pictures now in the Giga - yes, that's GIGA - pixel range! To experience what kind of resolution this can result in, take a look at Gigapan.org.

Here, you can find truly high-definition panoramic pictures that take photography to a new level.

PS: There's some interesting stuff in some of the pics there - and you'll have to observe closely to figure out if it's believable or indeed incredible!

Well, I just love beautiful pictures (and I do manage to take some myself, when I have the chance). But, clearly, there's an awesome wealth of beautiful and stunning photographs that one comes across every now and then.
